Clicking Puzzle Game:
Knives Out Adaptation

For this project, me and my other two teammates decided to take it from the movie Knives Out, and recreate the story in an interactive storytelling way by using InVision.

In the game, you play as the detective who tries to find the truth behind the murder. By collecting clues and discovering the house, you'll get to choose the killer in the end and reveal the hidden truth.

As a team member, I worked on most of the art assets while helping the team figure out the storyline and core game mechanics.

Scene Design

For the scene design of the game, I took the original movie footage and stylized it in Photoshop. I also tried to keep the aesthetic close to the original movie so, therefore, all the scenes have a sense of the dark and mysterious vibe.

We decided to follow the original plot since this project was an adaptation, however, I made changes to the conversations between the characters in order to add more playabilities to the game.

Collectibles

Since the player will be playing as a detective, the process of finding clues is the most important part of the game. Therefore, I followed the original plot and turned the clues into collectibles in the game, then designed these collectibles in Photoshop.

Players need to interact with the scene to discover the collectibles and unlock different dialogues which will help them lock the suspect in the end.

Journal Design

Since we wanted to have something to record players' progress in terms of the clues they've collected, we created a journal system. However, we couldn't offer a real-time update with the journal since we're developing this game on InVision. Therefore, we decided to create a journal with all the clues in the game that would be triggered before the players decide to lock the suspect.

I designed the journal in photoshop and included all the collectibles in-game. I also chose a font with a handwriting style to make everything looks more vivid.
